Brooklyn’s brand new Billion dollar arena will be hosting MTV’s 2013 Video Music Awards on Sunday August 25 !

Moonman touched down at noon at JFK International Airport, then jumped in a cab, zipping over to MTV’s Times Square headquarters where he hung around for about 15 minutes before hopping on a Brooklyn-bound D train.

It’s been four years since the Moonman — and by extension, of course, the VMAs — spent any significant time in the city, so he did some sightseeing around 1 p.m. ET and took a classic shot of himself on the Brooklyn Bridge. The next stop was a photo-op chronicling his visit to one of BK’s legendary spots: graffiti artist Cern One’s “Comandante Biggie” mural commemorating the Notorious B.I.G., on the side of the Not Ray’s Pizza Building in the Fort Greene neighborhood.

The journey ended around 1:30 p.m. ET at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, where the 30th annual VMAs will make history as the first major annual awards show to take place in the borough.

“From hip-hop to hipsters, Jay- Z to MGMT, Brooklyn musicians have a long history of dominating the ‘spotlight’ on MTV. Brooklyn is a cultural Mecca — the hippest, coolest place for young people across the country, and has played a crucial role in the careers of some of 2013′s biggest bands, like Fun. and the Lumineers,” said Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz in a statement.

“Now, it is only fitting that the first time Brooklyn will ever host a major awards show, we are welcoming the most exciting and talked about spectacle in the music industry … I’m so thrilled that I’ll probably get ‘no sleep till Brooklyn’ hosts the VMAs!”

03-25-2013 – FinishLine among other retail sneaker stores re-released the extremely popular Jordan XI Breds this passed Saturday. We were one of many that tried to purchase the sneaker and had the worst experience ever. Not because we didn’t wait on the ongoing splash screen or because ultimately we didn’t get the sneaker… but because FinishLine has the worst service as far as processing orders go. Heres what happened -

2 weeks ago I was seeing tweets/facebook statuses from FinishLine about the re-release of the Jordan 11 Bred sneakers and of course after seeing all the resellers on eBay trying to sell a pair of the $185 sneakers for over $400 I was very interested in buying them at its normal price. Saturday March 23 came, I was offered to work that day also but turned it down to try and get these sneakers I waited a few weeks for. Woke up at 7:30am to try and buy these online from FinishLine when they were to go on sale at 8am. 8am comes around, and the website shutdown temporarily.

8:10am they tweeted out the link to buy the sneakers

The website seems to have crashed but instead, FinishLine denies that it crashed

I know a lot about how websites run… SourceHop.com — The truth is it did crash, because it was trying to run a script and it wasn’t running at the time. About 20 minutes later… wee see that the script is actually running.

So now that script kicked in, it now created an organized line to shop in there store. Shortly after the website was operating normally I was able to get on the site !
I got in, clicked my size then proceeded to check out. The night before, I created an account with FinishLine to be able to quickly checkout once I go on the site. So I get to the final step of checking out and it gives me an error with my “Billing” — They tried to tell me its my bank, or my credit card or that my billing info doesn’t match my name. Which was all bullshit. I have more than enough money in my account to cover $210 — and I’ve entered all my information correctly. [I wasn't the only one...]

And while it was denying me to finish the order, it was actually charging my credit card but not going through to complete the order on there website. So I was charged over $800 for these sneakers, and never even got the sneakers. I called up to complain but they don’t care, and why should they? They don’t give a shit about the couple hundred people that encountered the same problem I did because theres Thousands and thousands of other people that will be there to buy them when we can’t. A nice gesture would have been to look at the time logs of people who were charged for the sneakers or .. I’m sorry as they called “Holding fee” and see that they had an error with checking out but were trying to buy them at 8:45am — and wasn’t able to because of there piece of shit system.. and void the order of somebody who bought the last pair of the size I wanted after 10am — Thats what was most frustrating. I was on there site early, and purchased the sneakers multiple times.. but actually didnt get a confirmation so instead I didn’t buy the sneakers. I guess they wanted me to keep placing thousands of dollars in holding charges on my card for it to finally go through.

That’s what my checking account looked like, I blurred out transaction ID numbers for security purposes of course — but those were “Holding” charges FinishLine placed on my card.

All in all, I felt like this is something FinishLine needed to get exposed for… I agree with the 30second splash screen to get on the website, I think its a great idea to create an organized order for there customers to get to the online store. However something needs to be corrected with there billing system. Its not fair to people who waited weeks to buy these sneakers for themselves, there children, there significant others ect. Especially when the were there in the store first.
